Camellia Oleifera is a beauty

Camellia Oleifera is a beauty
Time to introduce another one of the plant oils that go into our Nourishing Face Oil - Organic Camellia Seed Oil or "Camellia Oleifera". ⠀

Camellia Seed oil is extracted from the seeds found on the flowers of Camellia Oleifera (tea plant.) It has a high amount of oleic acid and vitamin A, two powerful substances. ⠀

The oleic acid is an excellent carrier of cell rebuilding nutrients and bioactive compounds that help to repair damage caused by dryness and sun exposure. Meanwhile, Vitamin A in Camellia Seed oil is a form of retinol that stimulates the production of new skin cells! ⠀

Isn't nature amazing?!⠀

A Rosa Canina By Any Other Name...

A Rosa Canina By Any Other Name...

The famous quote from Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet actually goes "a rose by any other name would smell as sweet..." Many people confuse the rose (Rosa Damascena) with the rosehip (Rosa Canina.) But they are very different.

The Rosehip fruit has been used in folk medicine for a long time to guard against the common cold and other illnesses, including gastrointestinal disorders and inflammatory disease.⠀ ⠀

Rosehip Oil is made from the seeds of the wild rose varieties which yield a rich, earthy-smelling oil. It is rich in vitamin C and has a high content of polyunsaturated fatty acids–which is why we love it in our Nourishing Face OilRosehip Oil also has antioxidant properties to protect against inflammation and oxidative stress (an imbalance between free radicals and antioxidants in your body).⠀

The Wonder of Citrullus Lanatus (Kalahari Melon)

The Wonder of Citrullus Lanatus (Kalahari Melon)

Meet the Kalahari Melon or "Citrullus Lanatus". ⠀

Kalahari Melons are indigenous melons that grow across the Kalahari Desert in Southern Africa. They're not like the sweet red fruit of the melons we're used to here in the States. The flesh of the Kalahari Melon is light yellow with a bitter taste. The melons are a vital source of water for the people living in the deserts of Africa. But for us, the seeds are where the real magic lies.

Traditionally, the seeds are a great source of protein, vitamins and minerals. And the oil made from the seeds is a light oil that has been used as a moisturizer and to promote clear skin.

We use Organic Kalahari Melon Oil in our Nourishing Facial Oil because it is high in linoleic acid, making it easy to absorb and is known to dissolve sebum and lock in moisture. The oil also contains vitamins A and E which are both powerful antioxidants that fight off free radicals caused by UV exposure.

No wonder, it's been called the new "wonder ingredient." We'd have to agree.
